In or Out: Charlize Theron in Gucci

We may have to revise our term for gorgeous people who get free clothes and styling who nonetheless look like they put no effort in. We’ve dubbed such actions “Pulling a Jolie,” but there’s an argument to be made that we should consider calling it “Pulling a Theron.”

Aw, that’s not really fair. See that? We managed to change our minds in the time it took you to scroll down. We don’t particularly like this look, but we can’t, in all honesty, say it looks like she didn’t try. Let’s break this down. It’s really quite simple. We:

Like the top,

Hate the skirt,

Like her makeup,

Hate the hair.

So you see, it’s a bit of a 50/50 thing. As we said, the top is fine, but the shape of that skirt is awful and we hate the way the waistband “lifts” at certain points. And sweetie, your makeup is fully applied. You can take the headband out now and start doing something with your hair.

IN! She looks cool, chic, and glittery!

OUT! She looks like she stumbled onto the red carpet halfway through her makeup routine, with her dress half done up.

Sienna Miller played the part of a pinata yesterday and you all took some good, hearty whacks at her, collectively voting her unfortunate schmatta OUT.

I love the top part of the dress but want to reach into my computer screen and fix her waistband. Sometimes I feel like designers are trying so hard to find the next cool thing that they miss the point–to make the pretty people look pretty. (Hear that, Stella McCartney?) I pretty much like it all, except her hair. I like hair bands in general, and think it goes well with the outfit, it just doesn’t go with Charlize’s hair. However, it really does accentuate her beautiful face…and wow, what a jaw line she has.
