Chloe Moretz for Interview Magazine

I find this really uncomfortable to look at, for the reasons you outlined.  Uck.

What I’m taking away from this, is that black people make excellent furniture. Thanks for that. 

First, who is this man and just how big is he? I’m fascinated with him.

Next, totally uncomfortable making shoot. Yuck, ugh, blech. And he has a gun? And it’s pressed to her forehead? Why? There is an unbelievable degree of bad taste and racism in this series. Wow. Someone needs their ass handed to them for this atrocious mess.

Ick, eww, and nasty. Pedophilic all the way.

I feel like I need to rinse my brain after looking at that.

…this is weird… I don’t like it AT ALL.

What’s with the gun pic?  Just because he’s a big black man doesn’t mean he’s a criminal.

By the way, am I the only one wishing Cloe wasn’t even in the shots at all? I want to see more of Curtis Johnson.

 When I view it through the lens of, “He’s her security guard” some of the pics aren’t so bad. I actually like the very first one, and the one one with him holding the chair.  The picture with her on his lap though is just very icky, because he’s a grown ass man,

I am really, really uncomfortable with their use of a person of color as merely a prop for her. Ugh. 

It took me a while to figure out that he is supposed to be a body guard. But that doesn’t negate the extreme creepiness of this editorial. I really hate that it is obviously formulated to manufacture outrage.

I can’t express how much I hate this editorial.

Just yuck.

I wonder if she’s going to show up to the Hugo premiere in a leather bustier for a movie in which she still looks like she’s in the single digits.

jesus h. christ.  i feel like chris hansen is abut to show up at my door and offer me a glass of iced tea after looking at this mess.  what is this fuckery?  a gun pressed to her head?  really?  black people as lawn furniture?  really?  if you are making terry richardson look classy, you’re doing it wrong. 

Now there’s a failed concept. I’m embarrassed for everyone involved.

UGH! I am already sick of this young girl. She (and her handlers) are trying so hard to make her grown. The editorial just adds anoyther layer of suckage to the situation.

Disgusting, creepy, unoriginal, and stupid.  

That’s just creepy. I feel gross for looking at it.

I love edge and art but I am definitely picking up a racist vibe here. And that’s never pretty.

it’s probably supposed to be an ironic pastiche of something that is totally inappropriate. kind of in the realm of the hail to the v ads by massengil or whoever.

that said, it’s still creepy. & creepier still cos they have no idea it was even done twenty years ago & think they invented it just now.

This is so bizarre.

This just weird.  And he’s much more interesting to look at in the photos than she is.  All the black dresses just blend into his suit.  Totally dumb and a bit squicky.

I find it funny that her parents would be ok with this, but made her call her first movie “Kick Butt” around the house.

I like the one of her sitting on the chair and him holding it as a stand alone artsy picture. Or rather, I would if that was a picture of Twiggy and it was taken in the 60s.

The one of her straight up sitting on his lap squicks me out. BLEH.

If the image with the gun was cut, it would just look like a bodyguard and a girl, and the choice of such a large man highlights how small she is and counteracts the grown up styling. In none of the images is she wearing anything that is particularly sexy and there’s nothing that suggests the relationship between them is anything explicit. I don’t like the fact that they threw in the scary black man thing by having the image with a gun, but otherwise I don’t mind this shoot. It doesn’t come across to me as edgy, but it doesn’t come across offensive either. It just looks like a play in contrasts. Big man, small girl. Dark man, pale girl. Strong and solid, dainty and fragile. The image where he’s hiding behind her is even a bit comical.

I think this would be uncomfortable if it appeared that he had any sexual interest in her, but his body language is completely impersonal.

The makeup, the clothes, the {implied/suggested/and overt} situations.  NO, just. NO.  Says this mother of a 14-year-old boy.
 

I adore Chloe Moretz but I really dislike this. I understand that as the startlet she is supposed to be the focus but can we do it without turning the man into a giant armchair/picture frame? I don’t know if they were going for like, a Man on Fire thing but it’s just weird and kind of creepy, esp second last. :/

I do not understand the point of this editorial at all, but will admit to liking the first photo (not cover). Her body shape and the composition as a whole are interesting.

Don’t find this creepy at all, probably because I’m desensitized from shows like The Professional etc. 

The photo with the suspended chair was great though.
