Sometimes, the absurdity of motion picture marketing can be entertaining, but it’s times like these our hearts go out to poor celebrities and stylists.

All that work just to stand in front of a backdrop that makes you look like a poster warning about the dangers of venereal disease. She looks thrilled to be standing in front of that sickly yellow wall, doesn’t she? “Yeah. ‘Danger!’ “Contagion!’ Haha. Very funny. I’m Typhoid Fucking Marie. We done with the pictures?”

We think the dress is kind of cute, but the outfit on a whole seems kind of lacking. Not for lack of trying with the shoes, though. Those things look like they come with a 40-page manual. We don’t know. Everything’s cute, but it’s lacking oomph. At least from the knees up. We’re thinking she needed a statement piece of jewelry and less casual hair. Are we wrong here? We’re asking.

  This is a dress that needs a hat, a bag, and different shoes. Maybe yellow pumps? If her knees looked better, I’d say bare legs were fine, but just no. Those legs are crying out for stockings. The hair should be up.

IN. I like the clean look, but a statement piece of jewelry would’ve been OK as well. LOVE the shoes and think the pop of color she chose (instead of the black/model version) was a nice touch. Of course, I wouldn’t want to walk in them, but they are pretty amazing.

As an aside, Ms. Cotillard certainly can wear clothes – anybody see Midnight in Paris? Loved her costumes in that movie. Walked out of the theater and remarked to my movie companion that I would totally wear any of them right now! Beautiful outfits and Marion totally rocked the era.

I absolutely loved this when The Fug Girls posted it yesterday. I thought the shoes were divine, but on closer inspection was a bit disappointed. I wanted the chains to be crystal encrusted and it almost looks like they are patent wing tipped. All told, these are small quibbles with what for me, is an otherwise splendidly simple dress with a fantastic pop of color at the feet.

I liked her casual, yet polished hair and simple jewelry.

It’s all IN for me, baby.

I love her, but this just looks…odd. I mean, it’s Marion Cotillard, she’s *so* beautiful, that if you look at her and go “enhhhh…I don’t know…” you know that she’s been dressed poorly. The only part of this I like is the hat the model is wearing. I don’t like the dress (where the pattern changes it makes her hips, and the models hips, look huge, and I hate the shoes. Great hat though.Out.

She needs a nice black belt to break up the graphic of the fabric. And different shoes. These are Kardashian shoes not French Oscar winner shoes. Not sure statement jewelry would work – maybe a large bracelet would pop, but a necklace or earrings would get swallowed by that print. And the background! Puke yellow. Lovely. Poor woman is working an impossible carpet – acid yellow walls, burgandy and grey carpet – *shudder*

I’m sure it must have been said, but I wish she had worn the hat, from the runway look. It kind of gives it a little something. I don’t love the color of her shoes, but I appreciate that she did add some color with her footwear. I LOVE the black version of those shoes.
