ELLE’s 18th Annual Women in Hollywood Tribute
Since we did an all-boy red carpet rundown yesterday, it’s time for the ladies to take center stage, wouldn’t you say? Compare and contrast. At the Scream Awards, the look for men was pretty much “frat boy,” whereas at ELLE’s 18th Annual Women in Hollywood Tribute, the look was very much “Ladies who Lunch.”
Abigail Breslin in Calvin Klein
We almost like it. It’s a bit shapeless but not everything needs to be form-fitting. The yellow clutch makes it just a bit too citrus-y and the beige pumps don’t really go.
Alice Eve in Dolce & Gabbana
Betty Draper. We would guess that was the look she was deliberately going for. We like the accessories matching here. The clutch pulls out the greens in the dress and the pumps “go” without matching.
Amber Heard in Calvin Klein
Pretty, but the makeup – and the shoes, for that matter – are a bit heavy for this look.
Chloe Moretz in Calvin Klein
Enh. It’s on the chic side of things, but it’s not really doing any favors to her shape.
Cobie Smulders in Max Mara
She’s way too young to be looking this matronly. A less cougar pair of shoes and wearing her hair down would have helped a lot. The dress is actually pretty, although we’re not sure she can pull off that yellow.
Elizabeth Olsen in Calvin Klein
Hair and makeup look very pretty and mostly age appropriate, but that dress is not flattering.
Pretty dress; hate the shoes.
Evan Rachel Wood
ERW didn’t get the memo. “Ladies who Lunch,” sweetie. Not “Ladies who practice witchcraft.”
Freida Pinto in Calvin Klein
Very, very pretty. Love the shoes and necklace, although they’re a little too matchy.
She looks like she wandered into an April Cornell store and twirled around.
Jayma Mays in Catherine Malandrino
Someone else who didn’t get the memo.
Jenna Dewan-Tatum in Edition by Georges Chakra
Pretty, but a bit on the showy side for this type of event.
Katherine Heigl in Amanda Wakeley
Oh, dear. Those pants are a tragedy and SO IS THAT CRAZY LADY HAIR, LAURA. But we like your necklace.
That’s a beautiful print. Again, all the gowns just look overdone here.
This would have looked great had she worn a better bra. Great accessorizing.
Since floor-length is Rachel’s go-to, we guess we can’t ding her for wearing a gown. Besides, she looks pretty amazing here.
Reese Witherspoon in Bocanegra
Hate the lacey cami, but props to her for wearing a chic pantsuit.
Robin Wright Penn
The washed out makeup with the heavily lined eyes is a bit disconcerting, especially paired with the Moe Howard hair. The dress is a bit too interesting for its own good. Don’t tell her we said all this because she looks like she can kick our asses.
Viola Davis in Calvin Klein
Chic. Sometimes, all one color from dress to accessories really works. We love a good pewter. Don’t love the mushroom hair, though.
