Taylor Lautner for VMAN Magazine

Taylor Lautner got himself all greased up to be photographed by Steven Klein and styled by Nicola Formichetti. for VMAN magazine.

We’re not sure if it’s lighting, makeup, photoshop or a combination of all three, but this only barely looks like him to us.

On who he really is: “If I’m not filming, I’m promoting, and if it wasn’t Twilight, it was a different movie, so it got really busy. But yeah, no, I, you know, I hang out with my friends, family, and kind of just – I don’t even know. It’s like, when I am not filming, it seems like – I don’t even know what I do.”

On his pre-Twilight innocence: “I hadn’t explored much besides Michigan and California. When I am traveling the world promoting the films I say I am on vacation, but it’s not really true, I guess – because when I go to a beautiful city I spend the whole time in a hotel room and then I am back on a plane to the next place.”

On his Twilight family: “It was really helpful that all of us were going through the same thing at the same time. I think if we didn’t have that sort of relationship it would have been tough. It would have felt pretty lonely. Because when you are filming for these Breaking Dawn movies, we were filming for seven months – and if you’re there alone the whole time even with the cast members, like on a day off, or on weekends, you’d go nuts.”

He’s not obnoxious about it like so many of his contemporaries are, but whining about how hard it is to be an extremely well-paid movie star is tired. Then again, you can’t underestimate the Twilight fans. The more adamant among them will probably weep for Taylor and his many hardships.

As for the pics, well… this is more of a face-itorial than editorial. Forget about the clothes; these are just artfully produced Tiger Beat pinups.

Still, they’re pretty.

I have never seen Twilight nor have I finished even one of the books. I live in Utah and the total Mormon Overtone of the thing made me curl up in the corner to weep. This kid looks like he’s carved out of wax.

He’s cute. But it’s all the same expression. This has everything to do with selling magazines and nothing else. Twilight fans will be buying this mag simply to hang these pics in their locker or on their ceiling.

Ew I don’t like these. They just look like over sharpened black/white photos. As for the interview, for some reason I don’t mind his comments. It doesn’t come across as whiny to me, more like this isn’t as glamorous as you think. Perhaps it’s because I haven’t read many interviews from him. Anyway, his movie reminds me of an updating of the Little Nikita starring River Phoenix.

Woah, the shot with his hair plastered down makes him instantly 30x hotter. Who would have thought.

Anyway, he’s whining, but it seems like the real sort of whining you’d expect from a guy who’s not perceptive enough to think about how privileged he is. In that sense, it’s refreshingly real. No pretense. A little adorable. The responses sound like what I’d expect any boy his age to give, including how inarticulate the responses are.

No, not pretty. I’m a huge fan of black-and-white photography, especially for portraiture, but these are way too self-consciously arty and phonied up. I particularly hate the way the photographer has made his left cheekbone appear as though it’s going to pop out of his face and stab someone. It looks ridiculous.

Smart kid. Knows to rely on pros who know how to handle his celebrity & career. His new film is the perfect vehicle to navigate the needs of the Twilighters yet give him legitimacy– a sympathetic action vehicle that surrounds him w/ veteran actors & director. Having sat through one of the Twilight flicks (just to see what the deal was) it’s a good thing he’s pretty to look at, because that movie was TORTURE. I mean that, having sat through the original Solaris in Russian and Jean-Luc Goddard’s post-1968 films. And that’s the point of this pictorial. He’s pretty, and he dresses well for a young guy on the red carpet, and he sells magazines. So, take the money and run, I say, ’cause who knows where he’ll be in 5 years.

I think he is a really unattractive man. He looks better here because he is greasy and covered with shadows. So basically I’m saying he looks pretty good because he doesn’t look like himself. I could see him more as a character actor than the romantic lead that he apparently is cast as. Sorry.

I don’t know why people are saying he’s unattractive under all the product they slathered on him, though. If he weren’t a famous actor, he could pass off as an amateur male model; same kind of bone structure, same range of facial expressions lol.

His face looks all dirty and stuff, and not in a sexy way – just like I want to take a washcloth to his mug. Poor Taylor. I hope he can go exploring soon and find his personality, or maybe just a brain. He seems to have a very empty little head, and it shows in these photos.
