We’ve featured Matt here a few times now because we absolutely love his street style, but many Bitter Kittens thought we were nuts for featuring him and nuts to think his ’80s-inspired casual looks were anything to get excited about. To which we say…

What a chic little alterna-couple they make.

HE: As we said, looks fabulous. Love the cut of that tuxedo and love him for not wearing something standard but not veering too far off the style reservation. Love the vest (yes, Brits: “waistcoat.” Happy now?), love the huge lapels, love the shoes, love the hair, and the hem on his pants isn’t perfect, but it’s damn close. Score: 9/10. The only reason he didn’t get a 10 is because he’s standing for pictures with his jacket open. Tsk.

SHE: Is breaking all of the rules. Well, our rules, anyway. See, we don’t love lace and we REALLY don’t love mermaid dresses, but somehow this looks chic and head-turning on her. Maybe it’s the relative lack of accessories; maybe it’s the messy hair (another choice we don’t normally love, but works here), or maybe the fact that she’s standing next to him and they make such a good pair (visually, at least). Maybe it’s just the big smile. Whatever the alchemy is, it’s working. Score: 9/10. We couldn’t live with ourselves if we gave a black lace mermaid gown with JBF hair a 10.

Combined Score: 9/10. Well done, Britlebrities.

  I went back to the other post to see who they almost murdered, and the only mention I could find of big lapels was this:

  In all seriousness, is there another previous post you’re talking about? I just want to compare. I personally think Matt Smith’s big round unusual lapels are fun, especially combined with the waistcoat and the hair. The man is starting to replace David Tennant as best-dressed Doctor.

The thing about the hair is…it’s annoying. Which makes you want to reach over and push it out of his face. But, it also looks like it would be very nice to touch. So, right after you imagine pushing it out of his face, you are imagining playing with it, and before you know it, Bam! Everyone’s naked on the TARDIS.

Totally with you, TLo, as far as the awesomeness of Matt Smith. Personally, I think his street style is maybe nothing to get excited about (I’m not sure it’s creative, which’d be my definition of something to get excited about) but it sure as hell is SHARP.

Ah, a crappy morning made better by Matt Smith on T Lo’s site. Smith just makes me smile. I, too, wish he had buttoned his jacket. He is so slim, the lines would have been fantastic. As for Daisy, I think that is a A LOT of dress for that fabric, but she does look good.

I love Matt Smith. Love his personal style and think he has spectacular hair. But…this new flip is edging ever so slowly up to Men Without Hats territory. And while I still laugh at the Safety Dance video (seriously, even for the 80s that was a big WTF?) I don’t know if that’s the direction Matt really wants to go.

Love it! All of it. Without a single reservation. They both look chic, appropriate and yet true to themselves. See, American actors? Matt Smith is a quirky guy with a unique style and he STILL manages not to show up for formal events in totally trashy inappropriate clothes. Some rules you can break and some you can’t — use Matt as your guide to telling the damn difference. (Except for RDJ, your shoes should be dress shoes; and the only reason he gets a pass is because he’s been doing it for 30 years)

Daisy looks fab — it looks like her. There aren’t many women who could make this work, but the JBF hair keeps it from going too conservative for her. And I’m pretty sure in their case, that hair probably occurred naturally — you can’t fit AIR between the two of them!

  Matt Smith always comes across well in interviews, and in Doctor Who Confidential. He seems like a genuinely nice guy. As have most of the people on Who. The Confidentials when it was Tennant/Tate/Barrowman looked like they didn’t get anything done for laughing and mucking about LOL!

LOL! I’m pleasantly surprised. When I saw Daisy Lowe’s dress earlier today I expected it to get a ripping. I really like it, but it’s lace, it’s black lace, and over nude, it’s a mermaid shape etc. But here you go giving her a 9 and making me feel daft.

I am too distracted by that hank of hair hanging down. It makes him look like a varmint of some sort – and what I really want to do is just come at him with my scissors and snip it right off.

Her outfit on the other hand is everything I usually hate but I really love the way she looks in it. But I don’t know why. Perhaps because she is lovely and seems really comfortable and happy wearing this dress. In this sense, the gal could likely wear a potato sack and still come across as fresh and pretty.
