HE: Gives us hope for the future. We look at him on the red carpet, clutch our hands to our chests, and each allow one lowly tear to catch the light as it streams down our cheeks in pride. “Well done, Taylor Lautner,” we whisper. “Well done, you overwhelmingly heterosexual young man.” There are very few men on the planet who can get away with a deep-v white undershirt on the red carpet, but if you’re young, have the body for it, make sure you are perfectly groomed and pair it with a chic, well-tailored black suit, you have our blessing. Score: 10/10. This is something that looks effortless but is, in many ways, more difficult to pull off than a suit and tie.
SHE: Looks great, but we have issues with the detailing. Love the dress. It’s got an edge to it and it suits her. However, we can NOT with the ladies and the cocker spaniel hair any more. It’s way overdone and to be perfectly blunt, it’s not a very pretty hairstyle. Whether she has them or not, every time a starlet goes out with this hair, we assume she’s camouflaging her extensions (badly). If we were working for a design house and lending out dresses, we’d attach a note that says “Don’t you dare let your client cover up half of this with her extensions.” That’s a taste thing (as in, it’s not our taste) so we won’t punish her too harshly for that. The shoes irritate us. Really, stylist person? Standard black platform peep-toes? You couldn’t use a little imagination here? Once again, someone thought “We’ve got a great dress. Our work here is done.” Bah. It’s all in the detailing and a stylist should know that. She looks good and these are relatively minor quibbles. Score: 8.5/10.
Combined score: 9.25/10. Run along now, children. Enjoy your little movie thing but don’t get into cars with people you don’t know and call us if you get into any trouble.
