Oscar de la Renta Spring 2012 Collection
Darlings, you know how we always say “Here’s your pretty for the day?” Well, here’s your pretty for the month. With Oscar de la Renta, it’s all-pretty, all the time. If there’s such a thing as aggressively pretty, than this collection is it. Oscar’s collections don’t follow the trends because trendiness isn’t the goal; beauty is. You’ll see bright, vibrant spring colors here, but they’re not always the agreed-upon colors of the season. Yes, there are yellows, pinks and chartreuse, like we’ve been seeing all over the runways, but the yellows are sunnier and the pinks are paler and in between them are gorgeous shades of red, blues both pale and vivid and that stunning kelly green you see above. The silhouettes range from fitted and body conscious to exuberant and floaty. LOVE the embroidered florals, the battenburg lace, the gauzey white and off-white gowns, and the impeccable suits. Truth be told, we love it all. It’s such a cliche to say this, but it’s more true of Oscar de la Renta than pretty much any other designer: he knows how to make a woman look and feel beautiful. It’s his life’s work and it shows with every piece.
