Nicole Miller Spring 2012 Collection
What an experience the Nicole Miller show was. Not only did we get to sit in the front row, thanks to a concerted effort to support fashion bloggers, but we got to go backstage and meet Nicole herself and tell her what we think. And what did we think? We were blown away. When you think of Nicole Miller, you think of classic dresses and gowns; bridal and prom wear. But the second the first look walked out we realized we were in for something different. She’s clearly making her move to court a much younger customer by skipping the prom dresses and going “street.” Bright colors, wild patterns, menswear-inspired pieces, and fantastic separates. Very modern and fresh, evocative of the ’80s without ripping them off directly, a little rock and roll, a little hip hop, and a lot of attitude. As we said to Nicole backstage when she asked us what we thought, “It’s the wardrobe of the coolest, most interesting girl at the party.” Love all the colors and patterns, the go-go checks and the stripes, the beading, the outerwear, the bags and shoes. It was just a fun, loud, young collection of looks and we were very pleasantly surprised by it.
