First off, who drew the mustache on George Clooney behind you? That’s kind of hilarious.

Second, MARY, MOTHER OF PEARL, what is GOING ON with you, Marisa? Okay, sure; the dress is kind of interesting and you get kudos for once again taking a risk. But we’re confused. Are you a blacksmith now? Did you spend all day making horseshoes and just flipped your apron around in order to hit the red carpet? What’s with the cheap-looking shoes? What’s with the undone hair and face? Did you work a double shift at the smithy? Is that why you look kind of pissed off here, because you couldn’t get anyone to cover for you and the massive horse population of Beverly Hills would be shoeless for another day? Please explain.

I think the leather element is actually really interesting, I just wish the rest of the skirt wasn’t sheer and was the same length. Also, the bust is really unflattering for some reason.

It seems like she’s supposed to spread the fabric flap around her waist (under the leather) more instead of letting it all hang in front. It looks more sheer and spread out on the model, but maybe because she’s walking. Does that make sense? I can picture what I’m trying to say in my head, but don’t know if it translates.

  You know how the go-to phrase for PR guest judges is “I’m confused”*? That how I felt when I saw this dress. That piece of fabric is over the leather, except for where it’s under the leather and it’s suppose to wrap around but it’s not wrapped and the fabric is just hanging there like a curtain into the unknown.
  
  *It’s usually uttered by some young actress who likes to wear pretty clothes but doesn’t know anything about fashion.

i like the concept of the dress but there are few little details i would have changed. 1) i dont like that the panel in the front is sheer. 2) i dont like the fact that the panel is longer than the leather pieces. it either needs to be the same length all around or the whole sheer piece should go all the way around under the leather piece (does that make sense?).

she isnt even trying with regard to hair and makeup these days. what is going on there? the shoes i dont like at all.

The dress might work if the shoes weren’t so walmart, the makeup existed, and something other than what’s going on now happened with her hair. But I really think the dress is flattering. Kind of.

  Yes, I think the explanation for her expression is that she’s all alone here, when she could have been with Clooney and/or Gosling. THEY got to be all chummy together. She got nothing. Not even a nice piece of jewelry. Just a half-apron dress.

Sorry to be repetitive, but I really like the dress, although I wish the skirt were all one length. And better hair, make up and shoes would have been nice. I guess that’s an out? Sigh. I just really like the originality of the dress.

I actually LOVE that dress. Love the color, love the great neckline, love the leather – love it. But why did Marisa’s team EVER let her go out with such an unadorned face? Poor child is absolutely wan from lack of a dab of blush or a lick of lipstick. A nude face is one thing, but when you have a dress in such a deep, strong color, girl, you gotta have SOME kinda game-face to set it off, or you’re just gonna disappear!

I loved the clutch, too. Agree that the shoes are a little “enh” – but it could have been worse. She could have been sent out in putty-colored bear-trap platforms, amirite?

I think the dress is fantastic, fits her terrific figures nicely, and the shoes don’t look cheap to me. Plus, snappy yet understated bag choice, very appropriate. But her HEAD tells me that someone picked this out for her and she said “OH FINE. If I must.” Sad hair, office-y makeup and that woebegone expression? Criminal for someone in her position at this event. She should be pleased to be there, even if not thrilled.

If the leather “flaps” were the same length as the chiffon, OR if the chiffon went all the way around with a straight hemline (like an underskirt), and the leather was on top of the whole thing (like panniers), I would be 100% behind this dress. That is just an odd dress. I can’t imagine a person who could wear it in public and not feel (if they could see themselves) that they could have made a better choice.

Now, I can imagine it styled so that it looked good in a series of sultry poses. Shaking hands, finding your seat, getting in and out of automobiles, not so much.

You know, I think I kind of like it. I really like the color of the dress – yes, the leather skirt element is odd but what would this dress be if she had replaced the sheer skirt with opaque fabric?zzzzzzzz – the bag is perfect with it, she looks like she’s embracing her 40s, the shoes are fine. Her hair needs some help (I recognize that color scheme, it’s called ‘growing out your highlights’) and the lack of smiley-face or stare-off-into-the-distance-I-am-not-for-you look harms the overall look.

Hilarious blacksmith humor! The dress reminds me, in a sickening kind of way, of that hideous shmatta that Screaming Mary from “So You Think You Can Dance” wore. What is with these blacksmith apron dresses? They must be ripped off the bodies of those wearing them and burned in the public square. Like, today.

This is a serious case of it’s not your dress. I think Marissa should stick to more classic styles. A dress like this take someone with a dramatic flair to pull off because you’ve got to be willing to go for it with hair and makeup as well. That is Saturday at the mall hair and the makeup is almost non-existent. The shoes are indeed hiddy, and what’s with the lack of jewels? even a simple bracelet would have helped.

I have no doubt it was George, the merry prankster and my future husband, who doodled on the poster. I love him best when he is laughing at his movie-stardom.
I like the dress. I think it’s chic and sophisticated and what a fabulous grown up woman wears to one of these ‘things.’ Yes, the shoes are not my favorite (but they aren’t nude platform pumps so I like them) and yes, her hair and make-up are underdone as is her usual M.O. I just like how she never looks overdone. I love Kate Winslet but for the love of god she – and so many others – look kinda’ plastic at these premieres and photo calls. I like that Marisa does her own thing. It doesn’t always translater well on camera but if she were my girlfriend and she showed up to dinner looking like that I would tell her she looked fab.

I love Marisa Tomei. I love her even more that she doesn’t give a rat’s ass on the red carpet. Having said that, she could try just a tiny bit harder considering she is fabulous. I *really* liked the dress on the model. The leather looked less stiff and bulky and apron-y on her, for some reason. And I think it looked better paired with that belt, as well.

I still kind of like the dress on Marisa. With different hair and shoes, it could be a really cool look, imo.
