We’re not sure if this is an example of “Girl, that is NOT your dress.” Let’s walk through it together.

There are times when we fear we’re too hard on this gal specifically and too hard on pale-skinned redheads generally when it comes to color. We love this dress and we love the color of this dress, but we’re not convinced it’s the right color for such a pink girl. Now that we’re reaching the end of New York Fashion Week, we can tell you that brilliant yellow paired with black is definitely a trend for spring, which is great, because it’s a striking combination. But yellow’s tough for a range of skin types, not just the pink girls. Olive-skinned girls can’t always rock it, nor can lighter-skinned Black women. In fact, the only skin tones that tend to effortlessly rock it are those of naturally tan Mediterranean or Latin women and dark-skinned Black women.
But it’s still striking on her and we think she might have been able to make it work with the right kind of makeup. This would not be the right kind of makeup. In fact, all of her makeup tends to play up her pinkness, making her look a little consumptive. And the hair’s a mess. We’d give her an OUT on the hair and makeup alone but we’re more interested in hearing what the Bitter Kittens think of this color on her.
IN! Bold and striking!
OUT! Flight of the pink bumblebee!
