On her style: “I don’t have my own stylist. And I like to be a little different – in LA, everyone wears the same dresses. I think my background as a model helps, because I like experimenting and I’m not afraid of fashion or what other people think of me. What you wear is one of the only things about yourself you can manipulate.”
On life with Joshua: “Life is more important than work. We just celebrated our fifth anniversary. We met up in Paris, gave each other gifts and went to dinner – it was just lovely being together. We have the three week rule – we have to see each other, otherwise you drift. But we also enjoy our independence. We have our own lives and have a lot to bring back into the relationship because of that.”
On what she likes about different international film sets: “I love working in America. There’s a certain lightness about it that I like. I actually like to go and work on a film, have a good time and not think too much about it. But I also like the other side, something that is intellectual and intense, as you have in France.”
We never really believe them when stars claim they don’t use stylists. We don’t doubt that she has a sense of style, but employing a stylist makes it so much easier to procure the free dresses and jewelry and have them delivered to you. On the other hand, we believe her that things are good with her and Joshua because we’ve never seen a picture of them together where he didn’t look totally head over heels in love with her.
We don’t particularly love the staging with these shots – a little too much cutesy – but man, can this girl wear clothes. And not just “clothes,” but a range of styles and looks. We don’t know why she works so infrequently, although an IMDB check reveals she’s got 3 films in the can, but she can grab a camera’s attention like an old-school movie star. We’ve been on this kick lately of casting imaginary biopics (Winslet as Liz Taylor, Dunst as Debbie Harry), so we’re just gonna run with that and say she should be the one to play Marlene Dietrich. She’s got the charisma and the bone structure for it.
