2011 Emmy Awards Red Carpet – Part 1
We’re cracking our knuckles and rolling up our sleeves, darlings. Let’s DO this.
In terms of fit and silhouette, this is perfect for her. But the color wouldn’t have been our choice and when it’s combined with that hair, it all comes off a bit mature.
Amy Poehler in Peter Som
Birthday party balloon. Too tight and too shiny.
Christina Hendricks in Johanna Johnson
Everything’s working great until you get to the bottom. The slit’s too high, the hem’s too long and the shoes look cheap. But points to her for picking something that fits her well and suits her. This has not often been the case.
Claire Danes in Oscar de la Renta
Striking and gorgeous.
Dianna Agron in Roksanda Ilincic
Beautiful color on her, but, just like Amber’s dress above, it’s too mature-looking.
Eva La Rue
Looks a little belly dancer to us.
Evan Rachel Wood in Elie Saab
Overdone. And that’s not really her color. And yes, it looks a little mature, like something a Grande Dame of soap operas would wear to the Daytime Emmys.
It’s okay. Doesn’t she dress exactly like this every time she hits the red carpet?
Jane Lynch in David Meister
We weren’t a fan of anything Jane wore last night. This color suits her, but it’s riding kind of low on the bust.
Another dress that’s riding a little low, but the overall effect is very pretty.
Julianna Margulies in Armani Privé
We figure a lot of people are going to criticize this dress but we thought it was gorgeous and unique.
Kate Winslet in Elie Saab
Yes, Kate, you’ve got a killer bod. And that’s a killer dress. But if it’s pulling across your hips and around your boobs IT’S TOO TIGHT. Love the hair, though.
Kathy Griffin in Oscar de la Renta
It’s a bit standard, but it’s tasteful and it suits her. She’s had a rocky relationship with the red carpet, but she seems to be slowly figuring things out.
Maria Bello in Kaufmanfranco
What a shiny, happy dress. What a shame she ruined it with yoga hair.
She told Giuliana that she designed this dress herself in collaboration with a dress maker and it shows. We mean that in a good way, mostly. She made several smart decisions for a lady of size. She nipped in the waist, went for the V neck, and accentuated the shoulders. Our only issue is with the dolman sleeves, which add all kinds of volume that she didn’t need. Great color on her.
Happy 40th birthday, Naya! You look fabulous.
What is it with the Glee girls? Why are they all determined to look 15 years older?
Olivia Munn in Carolina Herrera
Hate the shininess, hate the color on her, hate the shape of it.
Padma Lakshmi in Armani Privé
There’s such a thing as looking too bronze. Just like pale skinned girls in peach, sometimes bronze-skinned women don’t look their best in bronze. Love the shape of it, but she’s a column of one color. She looks a bit like an Emmy herself.
Sarah Hyland in Christian Siriano
Very sweet and perfectly suited to her. Wrong shoe.
Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang
Charo 2.0. That’s her schtick and it’s serving her well. She looks great.
