Maybe it’s the retouching but Florence has never looked younger. Or rather: has never looked more her age. But I’ll credit Karl anyway! That’s usually a problem, I find. She tends to look like she’s in her 40s.

This is closer to the sort of clothes she wears in many of her music videos, where she often looks totally badass. Like, not “Rabbit Heart,” but “Drumming Song” and “Cosmic Love”? TOTALLY badass. I approve.

Also, the hair poof and outfit and general pose are kind of making her look like a redder version of Janelle Monae here. Which, she is ALSO awesome, if a little bit stuck in a rut, so that’s kind of cool.

Not to be negative, but the fact that she always wears long sleeves makes me wonder if there is something she is covering up. As a nurse, I’ve taken care of patients who always wear long sleeves because they have a history of psoriasis, cutting or suicide attempt scars. I hope it is a fashion statement rather than something like that.

Obviously, I’m not the only one who thinks she really looks like a redheaded Cate Blanchett in here. By any means this is NOT criticism because goddamn, who wouldn’t wanna look like Queen Blanchett, but Florence Welch has a pretty distinctive face, so this jars me a little.

I’m looking forward to a complete style redo when her next album comes out. The long, flowy dresses fit “Lungs” perfectly, and I’m hoping she’ll find a wardrobe as equally complementary to the next one.

  Maybe she looks uncomfortable because that collar has choked her neck down to the size of a two-year old. Or maybe that incredibly unrealistically skinny neck is a photoshop accident. But I know if I had a collar that tight strangling my neck I’d be clawing at it in a fit of claustrophobia that would take major amounts or anxiety drugs and tranquilizers to squelch.
