Ohhhhhh, kittens and poodles and darlings and precious unborn fawns all, The T LOunge is once again, at long last OPEN, Y’ALL! If you’re new here, this is our Project Runway viewing tradition; we all imaginary-go to a fabulous bar somewhere in the world, get drunk, and watch Project Runway, shouting out our thoughts in the comments section. Grand fun, high drama, and casual sex amongst the gays during the commercial breaks; if you haven’t been, you’ll LOVE it.

And in grand T LOunge fashion:

The Ladies Lounge at The G Hotel in Ireland

Think Pink, darlings! What better than every queen’s old favorite, The Ladies Lounge. For isn’t every T LOunge a ladies lounge, ladies?

Also in grand T Lounge fashion, we saw the first episode already and you didn’t; a little tradition we call our Neener-Neener Screener.

Don’t ask us to give a second of the proceedings away ahead of time, darlings, but we can tell you it was a really fun, energetic episode with a pretty great challenge and some damn fine on-point judging. The first ten minutes are completely different from any season opener before, but after we got over how jarring it was, we considered it a great way to get to know the contestants as well as potentially providing an awful lot of… well, we’ll get to that in our recap tomorrow.

For those worried about the talent level, we’ll say there were more than enough entries that could have been in the top 3 and leave it at that for now. Also, the cast is mostly fun at this point. You can guess where the tension’s going to come from, but no one was out of line or over the top for this challenge.

Christina Ricci was a very good judge and Heidi looked stunning when she came out for the runway show. Y’know, she really should wear more gowns on this show.

For now, your directive is to drink. If you’re imaginary driving, then only drink imaginary non-alcoholic drinks, darlings. If your imaginary chauffeur is parked outside ready to carry you out to the car by the time Heidi says “I’m sorry, but that means you’re out,” well then, get imaginary busy, bitch!

What’s on the menu for tonight? We’ll have our usual of wine and pizza for the premiere.

Remember: The Road to the Runway casting special is on at 8/7c and Project Runway immediately follows it at 9/8c, so pace yourselves, darlings!

Hey GT! I’m here and ready to go. Love the pizza and wine idea (although, being in Milwaukee, we’d have some good boutique beer with our pizza…) I will crack a bottle of Wollersheim Prarie Fume, a great WI wine. GT–try some you’ll like it!
I drink my first toast to you, the next one to TLo for this great party and the next ones to those poor folks on PR. (I’m watching the Gretchen season–I’d forgotten how crack-y the judging was…) Tervist, everyone!

Westport rivers makes good bubbly, but I’m not sold on their stills. God, it’s good to be back with everyone! Where are Bill, Gotham Tomato and Brooklyn Bomber?

    Fabulous. This winery is the only one that grows their own grapes right along the WI River. I will have to try the MA bubbly!
    I’m sure BB and Bill and the other GT and all the others will certainly be here. How could you miss it?

        Hi Gang! So sorry to have missed. One thing I miss about corporate life was the chance to sit at a computer and pretend to work while I was actually drinking like a fish in the TLOunge and carrying on with you all. We had a 9′x5′ table delivery after work – took 4 of us. We got home with only enough time to get dinner done and leap in front of the TV for the start of the show. Glad to hear you were thinking of me. I miss you guys!! xo

I am sooo happy to actually be able to drink in the TLounge tonight! Of course I’m not having anything fancy, just some sangria but I’m ordering ravioli from the local Italian joint and I bought a chocolate truffle cupcake for dessert. I feel positively decadent!

The lounge looks pink and lovely. Let’s get to judging!

OMG I just went to Costco and got the ridiculous size Woodford Reserve bourbon and Bombay Sapphire gin. I’m thinking it is gin & tonic weather. What goes best with scathing remarks?

Wow, Heidi looks gorgeous with her hair up like that. Not that she ever looks not-gorgeous, of course, but it’s just a particularly good look for her. Hope she never goes back to the heavy bangs that move when she blinks.
Christina Ricci looks adorable in that little dress. I’m so anxious to see how she does as a judge. The Duchess looks orange as ever and Nina…I hope she’s got a lot of bitchery prepared for this season.
Tim Gunn…how do I love thee? I missed you so much on my TV.

I’ve been so torn. There’s a great concert tonight – tribute to jazz great Von Freeman. But it’s outdoors, and rain is predicted. So I can watch PR. (One of these days, I’ll succumb to DVR.) And, of course, if it doesn’t rain, I’ll be kicking myself.

Ahhh. I’ll be lying low as my cable-donor friend is out of town and I must wait for the a.m. to watch on line. This Lounge calls for a pretty drink, but it’s too hot out for sugary. Build your own: 1/2 a highball glass of sliced, mixed citrus, pour in a shot of your favorite tipple (I’m for gin over orange, ruby grapefruit and lime – though in my circles rum is more popular) and finish with seltzer.

FINALLY, finally, finally broke down and created a DISQUS account, having had to create a variation on the old identity from TLO’s prior blog operations. Some other person had the temerity to register my initials first.

Lovely to be back in the PR swing, and a cosmo for me, in honor of all that blinding pinkness. 20 contestants – too many to keep straight, as it were, but Our Boys’ teaser promises good entertainment. Which all of us can certainly use. Ahhhhh…… Sinking into one of those fabulous pink chairs and thinking how nice it is to be back in TLounge. It’s been so long, darlings! In honor of the decor, and because I’m not crazy about Pink Squirrels, I’ll have a (small) pitcher of my favorite summer drink–Stoli peach vodka, lemonade, and a splash of sour cherry juice. Pink, tart, boozy, and refreshing! The dinner menu is perch, mashed white and sweet potatoes, and broccolini–all of it already made!

  I celebrated by having purple hair extensions put in and a with wee trip to LA where I dragged LCDR Mayhem around several cemeteries (visiting Buster Keaton, Rudolph Valentino and Billy Wilder) and with a backlot tour of Warner Brothers where I got to sit on Laurelai Gilmore’s porch and have my photo taken. After suffering through the utter WTF-ery of last year’s baffling finale, I promised myself that I’d never watch this show again. But I can’t say no to Tim Gunn, nor to repeating everything Heidi says in a horrible, gruff, “Isla, She-Wolf of the SS” accent. Perhaps vodka and you guys will help through the pain. But I can’t help but think that I’m a battered wife in a LMN movie of the week where The Duchess and Nina combine to form the abusive husband, and Tim Gunn is the “But baby, I only do it because I love you” that keeps me coming back for more. I only pray that this year, Tim hid the crack pipe.

      Hey Lori, sorry for the delay in replying – it took me until now to get back into the Lounge!
      
      In the UK, at least, this is how campaigns like National Lasagna Day get started…
      
      The PR dept/firm representing a major brand – say Stouffer’s for example – would contact me to discuss the idea. I had no powers of veto but was a central font-of-all-knowledge about Awareness Campaigns and could give advice and steer people towards the less congested times of year (avoid October!). Registering the dates with me also meant that they’d trickle through to all of the Profile Group’s other publications which was a damn good start to getting the word out to all relevant parties.
      
      So the campaign, backed by a major brand, starts to gain publicity and retailers get involved. Other brands may piggy back and get on board too. If the day is successful and runs for a few years it starts to build a momentum of its own and can run even without the backing of a major sponsor – especially if there’s an identifiable pattern to when its scheduled ie always the fourth Thursday in July. Once the original sponsor has moved on other companies may step in and take over – my publication would help ease that kind of transition.
      
      So – there you have it – that’s how Lasagna organises itself into having an awareness day.
      
      Helping actual charities out with their campaigns made dealing with the frippery and nonsense of stuff like ‘Sausage Week’ all worthwhile.

After watching the awful PR Aus Season 3 for the past four weeks, which is sub-PR Season 6 in quality – seriously, last episode there were three designers I forgot the name of, and one I only remembered because he wears so much makeup he looks photoshopped (even a girl with multiple piercings and pink hair manages to be forgettable). And there was a team challenge where only one team had any drama (which consisted of one designer shouting about how much she hates the 90s and her partner (one of two designers I remember because they made nice things) sighing). The only bright spot is a European guy who is like a badly dressed Casanova, I think they keep him around solely for that reason, even if his designs make no sense – I need to see the real thing again.

Sorry, needed to vent about my disappointment. PR Aus Seasons 1 and 2 were really good (PR Aus is actually what got me watching, I’m outside the target demographic but stumbled on the car challenge on Youtube and was hooked), I recommend stealing them from the internet next time there’s a season break and you need something to watch.

The hotel we’re staying in (whilst STILL rescuing our townhouse from the ravages of our former tenants) just had sooper dooper HD put in and we now have the Lifetime channel so it’d be rude not to watch really, since they went to all that trouble.

As for what we’re eating tonight? We were on the road for two weeks and have been ‘hotel living’ here at the Comfort Inn for another two weeks and I’d probably KILL for a home cooked meal after weeks of fast food!

LCDR Mayhem is currently picking up a little something from Panera Bread for us all. We have Chocolate Chip cookies for dessert, there’s plenty for everyone!

My 9 year old wanted to know what I was talking about when I was so excited for PR to start tonight. Just showed her as much of episode 1 and 2 of season 1 as I could — I was a pretty strict censor. I hope Josh (bald, sweet, and kinda cute) isn’t going to have a breakdown, but I can guarantee he’s gonna start second guessing every decision. Here’s to hoping that he lasts a while, though. And I agree with you. Those samples were verrry fishy. After all, I’ve been sewing for most of my life, and I couldn’t do anything like professional finishing until I had years of practice under my belt.

    In a couple weeks we’ll find out that by ‘learning to sew’ she meant with a machine, she’d been sewing by hand since her grandmother handed her a needle and thread at the age of 4.
    
    She did say though that while she sewed everything she had a lot of help. I imagine then its possible she had a teacher and if she has the resources and the drive she could have spent a solid 4 months(plus however much time there was between casting call and filming of the first episode) doing nothing but perfecting her skills.(Like a celebrity who says it only took me 2wks to lose 20lbs of baby fat and get my flat stomach, while not mentioning the Nanny, personal Chef and 8hr a day Personal Trainer.) So far though she is coming across as sweet and self-deprecating in her talking heads so I’m perfectly happy to see her do well.

I knew Rafael was gonna be the one to go. “fashion backwards” and “he doesn’t seem to realize that there’s a problem” are practically the kiss of death! (Josh’s humility saved him, I think.) Crossing my fingers and hoping that Josh lasts a bit longer. He seems like a real sweet guy. But with his background, sooner or later, he’ll probably be labeled as “safe” and “boring” and get the auf. Cheering for him, though. ‘Cause, well, gotta cheer for the fellow Mormon!

Well, I can vouch if your’re from Wisconsin or Illinois (Indiana-adjacent) it strictly means Indiana. It doesn’t make any sense otherwise, everyone else is just simply mistaken.

  Agreed. I grew up in Michigan, currently live in Ohio, and have lived in Kentucky. In all 3 states, “Hoosier” means an Indiana native. How much more of the Midwest is left when you include Wisconsin & Illinois? I’ve never heard the term Hoosier applied as a pejorative. Maybe that’s because all 3 states border Indiana like Illinois does.

  I have a feeling mr. uniball will be non-stopping talking about them until he gets auf’d. That was interesting start to the season. Has anyone else noticed since the move from Bravo to Lifetime how the cast has gotten a lot less diverse in terms of contestants and a lot more like the demographics of a lifetime white lady viewer? I love Bert and I Anya and I thought I would find them both annoying. Was really surprised they liked uniball’s merkin skirt. Was also surprised they kept closet case mormon around. Maybe they think he will come out on the show or bring some Mormon viewership.

Although I was slightly put off by seeing it featured in a film over the weekend. It was the new Brendan Gleeson film, The Guard, and featured Brendan’s character, an obese fiftysomething policeman and two prostitutes doing their thing in one of the G bedrooms… bleeech!

  on another board I post on for some shows they have a cliche’ contest and everyone puts thier guesses in in the beginning of the season. the main one that does this is hell’s kitchen..like counting “shut it down”"donkeys” or weird shit gordon does like throwing food. it’s intresting to see the end of season counts

As a “foreign speaker” (a Heidi speaker to be precise) I can tell you that Bert answered a nicely pronounced “Dankeschoen!” (thanks a lot!) after being told that he won. And Heidi answered “Bitteschoen!” (you’re welcome!). So either he is able to speak foreignheidilanguage or he is very well prepared.
