In or Out: Lucy Liu in Vivienne Westwood
Lucy Liu, please keep making your little panda movies. Do whatever you have to do to remain a fixture on the red carpet, because we are loving you lately for giving us something to talk about.
Vivienne Westwood Gold Label trinket silk corset dress
What a striking dress. Lucy really knows how to work a B&W look and she’s been doing it a lot lately. Normally, we’d be crying for color at this point, but she and her stylist have a good eye and can make the combo look interesting every time. In fact, stop for a moment. When was the last time you saw an actress at the premiere of her own movie wearing plaid? That alone merits praise from us. And we generally like the look here. One thing we appreciate about Lucy is that she doesn’t seem particularly trend-focused in her choices, especially her shoes. She mostly wears classic style shoes and you can tell they were chosen based on how they work with the outfit. A lesser celeb would have strapped on giant clunky platforms and/or nude shoes because her stylist told her that’s what all the girls are doing. Not that black peeptoes aren’t a current trend on the RC; just that we think these were chosen because of the outfit and not because everyone else is wearing them. Our only real complaints are with the top and the bottom; that is, the hair and the hem. The former is a little bit “Priscilla Presley just woke up” and the latter is distracting; we don’t like the way it hangs off the back. But even with a big titbow, we still kinda like this dress and look.
IN! Serving FIERCENESS up on a platter!
OUT! I don’t know what you’re going on about, T Lo. She’s nothing special.
You still have time to give us your Minion Opinion on Cameron Diaz’s “I still got it” romper. Vote early; vote often.
