Emma Watson for Vogue

Emma Watson straps on the Eyebrows of Death and the Lip Gloss of Polyurethane for Vogue and reminds us for the last time that she’s not Hermione Granger.

How freaking fabulous is that cover? Inside, Emma opens the publicist-approved flood gates:

On struggling between work and school: “I have felt for the last ten years I have had this battle; I’ve been fighting so hard to have an education. It’s been this uphill struggle. I was Warner Bros.’ pain in the butt. I was their scheduling conflict. I was the one who made life difficult.”

On experimenting in the makeup trailer: “That was my playground. I would sit and play with lipsticks, foundations, and eye shadows; and every now and then Amanda would let me do the extras’ face paint for the Quidditch matches.”

On being romantic: “I’m a feminist, but I think that romance has been taken away a bit for my generation. I think what people connect with in novels is this idea of an overpowering, encompassing love—and it being more important and special than anything and everything else.”

That last one sounds kind of adorably young and naive. Carrie Bradshaw, you have a lot to answer for. Anyway, the pics are gorgeous. No surprise there. She’s already proven both that she can wear gorgeous clothes well and that she knows what to do in front of a camera. She’s done a really fabulous job of transitioning into her adulthood and whether she uses the service of a stylist in her life or not, her focus on style and fashion has served her very well. Future child stars take note. If you do it right, you get to pose for Vogue looking like this.

The Prada outfits have a much more interesting look in the editorial; way more textural.

The styling really made the looks for the editorial: adding tights to the Aquilando.Rimondi, removing that polka-dotted thing from the Dolce & Gabbana and fitting the Calvin Klein dress made all the difference. Good work all around.

The makeup shouldn’t work but it does. Even the Sonic the Hedgehog ‘do looks completely fierce. The tights, jewelry, shoes – all styled to perfection. LOVE IT!

She is wearing the shit out of those clothes. The jeweled paisley tights look so much better than the Old Lady Black Ankle Socks do with the gold D-G mini dress. The stylist, the hair and make-up team and the photographer were also doing very strong work here.

I have to say, she’s much more of a model than she’s an actress. She’s not impressive in acting at all, actually. But her photos are always stunning.

Also, she must has a very competent management team to get her on all these Vogue covers. Other “Potter” actors are not getting nearly enough attention as she has. At least she’s more legitimately famous than Blake Lively!

Thank god she’s not posing with her little brother again. That would be creepy.

And she’s no Hermione Granger since the third movie. The movie character is so far removed from the book character that they can just rename her.
