Emma Stone Covers ELLE Magazine

Poodles, the celebrity hair-watching corner of the internet EXPLODED with excitement when Emma Stone dyed her hair red last week. We don’t blame them. The girl looks completely different depending on her hair color. She’d make a great fugitive from the law. Or a superhero with a secret identity. Elle managed to sit her down during one of the periods when her rapidly shifting hair color happened to be blonde and shot her for some pictures.

On not being recognized as easily in public with her new look: “I mean, I haven’t been around very long. I can’t expect everyone to have seen The House Bunny. Oh God. I am having such waves of internal embarrassment, which now I’m admitting on a tape recorder. This is so one of the things I should keep in my head.”

On her obsession with Farmville: “I got to level 42, and I wasn’t doing anything else anymore, so I had to stop.”

On her career: “It’s so funny how different life could have been. I went to so many auditions. I remember my audition for Heroes. I went in right after Hayden Panettiere. Now here we are in this rented house. It feels like it just happened.”

On how her career has grown: “These past two years, I’ve stopped having to remind myself to be present, which has been the greatest gift. Because I know it’s so fleeting. I’ll kick my ass later on if I don’t enjoy it right now. But it does make you realize that so much of the joy of it is the journey. The struggle is such a lovely part of it.”

She’s charming; or at least, she fakes it well. She looks fresh-faced and cute as a blonde, but her look turns sultry as a redhead. Either way, because of the likeable personality and her own good looks, she usually takes great pictures. The problem with this editorial is the clothes do nothing for her. Actually, that’s not entirely true. The Prada and Versace look great and we love the Sergio Rossi booties. The Stella McCartney stuff is hit or miss, which is usually the case with her, but the Chloé leather overalls? Oh, dear.

And what’s with the really off-putting facial expressions in some of these shots? Why does she look like a pissed off crazy person? She’s cute and bubbly and clothes look great on her. How hard can it be?

I know the name but still have no idea who she is and don’t recognize her — I mean there is nothing about her at all that tells me I’ve ever seen a photo of her before in my life, which can’t be true, and after looking at her here she’s lovely, that’s for sure, but strangely I can’t promise you I won’t have the exact same reaction if I see another photo of her.

  No, I agree. I wandered over to IMDB assuming I had to have seen her somewhere, and even though I’ve seen stuff she’s in, I still can’t remember her face, name, or anything about whether or not I liked her. She seems a complete blank. (Kind of January Jonesish for me, I guess?)

  Easy A and Zombieland are two recent movies with her in them – both had red/auburn hair on her, so she looked different. She’s got a great voice and is very funny – I’d recommend either movie pretty highly, even if you don’t usually like teen romcoms or zombie flicks.

    I thought Easy A was terribly trite and banal, especially since it was trying to be a little more self-aware than other teen romcoms, but I did think that Zombieland was excellent and different.
    
    She’s also in Superbad as the primary love interest.
    
    But I would stick with Zombieland if you want to love her.

  Easy A, Zombieland, Superbad, and The House Bunny were her biggest roles. All as a redhead. She is also in the upcoming movie The Help, which I’ve seen lots of previews for lately, and she will be in the new Spiderman franchise, which is why she originally dyed her hair blonde, I believe.

    You mean returned to blonde. I’m not sure if she just stripped her hair or actually dyed it again, but she’s a natural blonde. I think she said she only started getting work when her agent told her to dye it.
    
    Anyway, she’s set to play Gwen Stacey in the reboot, who is a blonde compared to the fiery redhead Mary Jane, so we’ll see how it goes. :3

I love the first (standing in the circle) picture – the clothes, the
pose, all of it. But the “searching for my earrings after last night’s beach party debauchery” is unspeakably bad. You have to wonder what was on the editors’ minds that this one wasn’t immediately disqualified.

I saw these pictures yesterday and loved them at first glance. The graphic nature of the polka dots really struck me, especially since she is so one color when she’s a blonde. That said, the repeat of the crawling in the sand photo’s not so great. I’m biased though, because I just love her in Easy A. I hope she’s like that character in real life.

I like the spread even though there’s a toxic spill of Stella McCartney clothes. Stone pulls most of it off, and she looks amazing in the Versace. Not just anyone can get away with a Big Bird dress.

The pic where she is on her knees on the beach is hilarious. She looks like she just woke up and is surprised to find herself in those clothes with someone pointing a camera at her.

She looks quite a lot like Michelle Williams in some of these photos. The red hair makes her look a lot more distinctive. I’ve yet to see her in a movie, but I’m looking forward to The Help this summer.

That horrible picture looks like she got caught in the act of trying to find something embarrassing, like an old love letter, or tampons or something. Definitely the one to sic your agent after the editor of the shoot for. Although I do love the little booties she’s wearing in there.

What a fun shoot. I think she looks really good in these clothes, and she’s a natural model — she isn’t touching her face in every picture or alway giving us bitchface. The stylist did a great job snagging cool clothes.

And I want to be young enough to wear a polkadot bra and leather bib overalls!
