Kate Hudson & Ginnifer Goodwin for Marie Claire

We don’t pretend to know anything about the inner workings of the minds of either of these ladies, but man, they look like they really, really hate each other in these pictures.

Kate Hudson on gaining 70 pounds during her first pregnancy: “Let me tell you something, It’s an emotional roller coaster, having to lose weight. I gained so much — I was 185 pounds at the end. You actually experience how much energy is stored in that and how much emotion you actually hold in that mass. It is emotional, no matter how determined you are. It takes work to bounce back so quickly.”

Ginnifer Goodwin on her weight: “”I am genetically predisposed to be a bigger girl than I am. If I didn’t live in Hollywood, I would be. I have very real hips and a real Southern woman’s ass.” [...] “I’ve never had body issues, and I’ve never had an eating disorder.”

Granted, since the entire focus seems to be “OhmyGOD, we had to lose weight!” maybe that explains why they look so pissed off in the pictures. Seriously, in most of them they look like they’re facing the bad guy in an action movie:

And it’s such a colorless editorial. Either the clothes are black and white or the pictures are. As the kids (in 2008) would say, EPIC FAIL.

I like Ginnifer’s hair…that’s about it. The still of the video is kinda funny with them making the same weird “we’re in the middle of saying the same thing” face.

I kind of like Ginnifer’s hair, though it looks horrid on the cover. The cover is all kinds of awful–who shot this? They both look awkward posing with each other, and half of their individuals shots are pretty terrible too. Ginnifer Goodwin in the Theory suit is probably the worst photo (aside from the cover). Yikes!

  She means the feeling of “hanging onto emotions” and “the past.” I understand exactly what she means. It is one of those statements that isn’t “average” and one wouldn’t understand it unless one has experienced it. It’s the feeling of dead weight and being dragged down.

Kate, either do your roots before a photo shoot or, if you’re trying to grow the color out, tint the rest dark.

GG is so terribly unphotogenic. She looks as bad here as on the RC. Couldn’t they have styled her better? I’m sure she’s much prettier in real life. Ms. Hudson looks the same as always, not bad. But man, this is dull.

HUGE whatever. Pretty girls.

A friend used to wait tables in a Colorado eatery in the 80′s where Goldie Hawn & her kids, sometimes with Kurt Russell, would come to eat. Russell was a carnivore, while Hawn pretty much restricted herself to steamed veggies and the occasional bite off of someone else’s plate. Sometimes the kids would go the burger & fries route, sometimes Goldie would insist they have some healthier options on their plates. Hudson was raised from birth to obsess over weight.

A whole different feeling about the two actresses (though not necessarily about the shoot) came up when I watched the Marie Claire clip about what is in their bags. Sweet and somewhat revealing, and they seem not to know each other very well AND they get to know each other better through their exchange (chocolate is involved). Which one carries a SAG card and which does not? Also, I love the Maison Martin Margiela top that Kate Hudson is wearing.

Directly below it (by Kate’s elbow): “5 ways to spot an eating disorder.” Nope – no relation between showing thin celebrities in form fitting clothes who talk about not being able to eat and women with eating disorders.

  Eating disorders are largely created by this whole “fat acceptance” thing. When parents stop nagging teenage girls (and some boys) to EAT, EAT, EAT then they will see a change. Anorexia is about control and there is a rebellious undercurrent to it. “I’ll show them. I will never be fat!” That is what is at the core of the illness. The attraction to models and Hollywood stars is secondary to the inherent rebellion.

Do tell. Because I’m sure you’ve had it harder than all the other women in the U.S. that try to lose weight without personal trainers and private dieticians. I hate when pampered celebs act like a fairly common problem most people have dealt with at one time or another is some how brand new and a much deeper problem when it personally effects them. How sheltered are you, girl?

Overall, an insipid article, both photos and content, which is par for the course with Marie Claire. In a couple of photos here, though, I have to say, this is the first time I’ve seen any Goldie Hawn in Kate Hudson, which means this is the first time I’ve found the latter even vaguely appealing.
