Cover Girl: Jennifer Lawrence for FLARE

Oh, what the hell. Let’s make it three Jennys in a row. Jennifer Lawrence covers Canadian magazine Flare’s June 2011 issue in Gucci.

On throwing away diet plans: “I don’t really diet or anything. I’m miserable when I’m dieting and I like the way I look. I’m really sick of all these actresses looking like birds.”

On shopping: “It’s still not really my comfort zone. I can tell what looks pretty, and now that I’m getting more familiar with what designers, I know what designers I like wearing. But I still hate shopping. To me, shopping is still torture.”

On her first awards show: “My first big awards show was the Marcello Mastroianni Awards in Venice, Italy. That was so fun, because my family and I, at the time, had never been to Europe. And so we went for two weeks before and travelled around.”

On ditching the hottest red carpet parties: “I went to the Vanity Fair [Oscar] party for a cool 15 minutes. And then I took off. I’m like a little old lady. I’m always tired around midnight…I mean it was cool to see Elton John, and I met Billy Crystal, which was amazing, but yeah, I’m mostly just kind of uncomfortable.”

She seemed to have come out of nowhere during awards season, having been nominated for a performance in a film very few people had seen and in a role that made her totally unrecognizable in comparison to the mysterious blonde glamazon who suddenly showed up on the red carpet. We thought she seemed kind of cool and refreshingly unpretentious. It could all be an act, but we get the same vibe from this interview.

Gucci Spring 2011 Collection/Model: Joan Small

Looks from this collection have shown up on magazine covers before and January Jones sported this exact getup on the cover of Marie Claire UK, but we have to say, Jennifer OWNS this dress – and we don’t mean in the “hanging in her closet” sense. The brightly colored glam works great with her sultry blonde looks, which is really saying something when you’re comparing her to January Jones.

Wow she looks incredible, totally beating January Jones’ cover. This Flare magazine looks an awful lot like Elle mag to me, it reminded me of the covers with Katy Perry and Amanda Seyfried.

She looks good on the cover, but also like a very generic Cosmo girl. They could have done better with her.

She looks really sexy, but for my taste, I think she’s a bit too busty for this dress (she fills out the bottom part really nicely, though – looks better on her than the model). The colors are both really great on her. Can’t wait to see her as Katniss!

This is maybe not the look I would have gone with if I wanted to sell myself convincingly to the world as Katniss Everdeen, beloved dark-haired warrior teenager who grew up starving in Appalachia. She looks like the hardest thing she’s ever had to do was choose between cornish game hen and salmon salad or give a blowjob to a lesser Baldwin for papparazzi photos.

I actually liked January Jones’ look in this better. of JJ’s is in profile, so you don’t get the dull effect. it just looks like Jennifer Lawrence is about to bust out of it. Sigh. I am still not convinced she’ll work as Katniss. But I am hoping she’ll prove me wrong!

No one else is worried about a taste factor here? She looks like an expensive street walker.
On the runway model, the outfit is saved by the looser cut of the clothes (and the slighter frame of the Joan Small), but on Lawrence it is all pinned so tightly she is POPPING out of that wrap-around blouse with all the openings in it. Where do you go looking like that?

Okay, can I just say that Jennifer here has an amazing body–truly amazing in the sense that it’s ‘perfect’ in it’s proportions. I’ve studied her body for my fashion drawing class. Thus, I feel I have the responsibility to inform the bitter kitten/unborn fawn population that her body has been photoshopped to an inhuman disproportion. When your hips have been reduced to nearly the same width as your SLIGHTLY teased hairdo, it’s time to give someone in the editing room a kick in the groin, and an immediate termination.
