In or Out: Zoe Saldana in Isabel Marant
Model: Tati Cotliar (NEXT)
It’s amazing how different a dress can look depending on what you pair it with, bitch.
Sorry about the “bitch.” Didn’t want to end the sentence on a preposition and besides, it’s one of our favorite Designing Women jokes:
“So, where y’all from?”
“From a place where we don’t end our sentences with a preposition.”
“Oh. So, where y’all from…bitch?”
God bless that Charlene.
Anyway, our point is, the dress on the runway looks totally different than the dress Zoe’s wearing and aside from the change in print, it’s the same dress. We’re a little glad she didn’t wear it with gigantic white, floppy, fringed boots because then we would have had to reconsider the idea that she’s a stylish woman who knows what she’s doing. Thankfully, she didn’t and her rep as a stylish gal remains firmly in place.
The dress doesn’t impress on its own. Don’t get us wrong; it’s cute, but nothing spectacular. But it suits her and some smart pairing decisions were made. Love the clutch. We accept the shoes but don’t love them because ankle straps, kittens. We just have a thing about them. The hair and makeup look appropriately low key for the event.
Stylists appear to be holding back quite a bit on jewelry lately. It’s a charity event and we suppose the anxiety over the economy has something to do with it as well, but even so, we’re not liking the new trend of wearing virtually no jewelry at all for public events. She doesn’t need it so much because of the colorful, graphic print of the dress, but we can’t help thinking a bangle or cuff as well as some slightly more visible earrings would have helped polish off the look.
OUT! Nothing matches! That print is ugly! I hate her hair! Or some other criticism!
