Valentino Fall 2011 Collection
Once again, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccoli put their own touches on the Valentino line while reaching at the same time into the house archive for inspiration. We love the result. There’s a feeling of tension in these designs, a pulling in opposite directions; romantic and modern. That tension is what makes this collection for us; soft vs. strong and quiet vs. firmly declarative. With their designs, no matter which side of her they’re referencing, you get the distinct impression Chiuri and Piccioli know exactly the woman they’re addressing. We adore the subtle and nuanced palette here as well. And with the extremely fine detailing and craftsmanship, the line between couture and ready-to-wear becomes a little more blurred.
