In or Out: Sarah Jessica Parker

We are as wrapped up in thought over this outfit as Sarah Jessica is trying to appear in it. SJP takes an actress’ approach to fashion, as well she should. What we mean by that is, she will often dress for a part, even in real life. Here, she is trying to look very much the thoughtful fashionista. She’s mostly succeeding, as everything about this ’80s secretarial look – the blue pleated skirt, the metallic top, the white belt, the ankle straps and the tailored double breasted jacket – it’s all very much on trend. We’re having a “9 to 5″ moment in fashion. 

But does T Lo like it? That’s the question that SJP is asking herself here. She knows she’s on trend but she fears the bon mots of bitchy gay fashion bloggers and so she waits, apprehensively, for a sign of our thoughts.

We like the skirt, belt and jacket. We don’t like ankle straps as a rule, but that’s a personal taste issue and we won’t hold that against her. The only part that really doesn’t work for us is the metallic top and to be honest, we can’t really say why. Just a reaction. Also, don’t love the hair. But the rest of it works quite well and demonstrates the thinking of someone who knows exactly what the very latest trends are. Given that she’s appearing at a fashion event, this would be the time to show off your fashion instincts.
