Project Runway: Auf Wiedersehen!
Y’know, when this first came out on the runway, we didn’t think it was that bad. In fact, we said “Not bad,” and our cats nodded their agreement, because there was no one else in the room to agree with us.
Like Mondo, Michael looked toward Chanel to produce a classic American sportswear look. We almost feel bad pointing that out because, except for a couple of them, most of the entries were really off-model for the challenge.
Still, even though it’s more French than American – and a rather literal representation at that – it’s not a bad little jacket. The judges were talking out of their cranky asses when they threw the new Project Runway cliche of “old lady” at this. They all know damn well there are plenty of young women who wear the classic Chanel jacket just like this: paired up with more youthful pieces.
It’s a Monet of an outfit. From far away, especially with the jacket on, it looked kind of cute. That’s mainly due to the silhouette. That “kicky skirt with a structured jacket” look is always stylish.
Would it have been our choice for the auf? No, not really. There was at least one other look that was far worse in our eyes. Who would that be? Stay tuned, minions!
Anyway, we’ll miss Miss Drummond. We thought his work was mostly interesting. Plus he had that quietly purring bitchy side. And if nothing else…
He’ll be remembered fondly for introducing the very-soon-to-be-popular Tim’s Vocabulary Tips segment to the show’s format. Let’s face it: the man was put on this earth to tell bitchy stories about Anna Wintour and to teach us all to speak with eloquence.
