Diane von Furstenberg Spring 2011 Collection
Two things DVF knows better than anyone: prints, and what women want to wear. Unsurprisingly, this collection, inspired by “goddesses,” after she saw a retrospective on Isadora Duncan in Paris, nicely demonstrates both areas of expertise. There’s a slightly retro vibe to this collection, but not so retro that it looks literal. You can’t nail these clothes down to one time or place. Things we love: the round sunglasses, the hooded pieces, the prints (of course) and the colors (of course, of course). We especially like that minty green paired with black; it’s very sophisticated-looking but still has an easiness and sense of fun to it. Our favorite thing of all? She does “feminine” so well and yet she doesn’t rely on a bunch of flounces and ruffles and bows to do it. Just chic, well-made clothes that do what clothes are supposed to do on a woman’s body.
