In or Out: Drew Barrymore

Even Drew has to crash to earth some time.

If you’ve been reading us for any length of time then you know we tend to blow kisses the way of Drew Barrymore, at least as it pertains to her red carpet appearances. She always displays a sense of fun with her clothes that’s refreshing in a star of her caliber. Even when she doesn’t quite get it right, we usually appreciate the effort.

Until now.

Yikes. It’s like everything bad happened at once. First off, column dresses are not for her. She does better either going slinkier or going with a fuller skirt. For another, there’s no color here. We have a real pet peeve when it comes to dresses that match the hair. And speaking of hair, hello, limp and stringy! And is there makeup here? It’s a little hard to tell. We like a minimalist look on the face, but this is a bit too running-errands for us. Also, that belt cuts her in half, Shelley-style. Also, also: suede nude platform pumps? With THIS dress? When you just wore the same pair in public with a totally different dress? We don’t think so.

We don’t know, guys. We’re all for a short dress at a movie premiere. We’ve said it before: it’s not the Oscars. But even so, this dress is a little too shapeless and colorless for us. Besides, it’s not the most flattering dress for her. We don’t mind the hippy-dippy hair, but what is going on with that makeup. A heavy lip and nude eyes? On Drew, who’s all big round eyes and pursed lips like a ’30s starlet? What a terrible choice.

AND IS THAT THE ONLY BELT AND PAIR OF SHOES YOU OWN, YOUNG LADY? ENOUGH!

OUT again. Drew, let’s pretend this never happened.
