Dirk Bikkembergs Spring 2011
Dirk Bikkembergs wants to tell you about his latest collection:
“Dirk Bikkembergs takes you on a trip to South Africa, this year’s epicentre of the football universe, where he has rolled out the carpet for the Spring-Summer 2011 fashion show. For the last decade, Dirk Bikkembergs has been perfecting his creative philosophy that “Football is Fashion”. It was also ten years ago when Dirk first fell in love with South Africa. So, when South Africa won the draw to host the 2010 FIFA World Cup, his immediate reaction was “I have to be there!” Later, when he learned that the Milan Men’s Fashion Week coincided with the World Cup, the idea arose to combine two passions and use it as a background for the SS2011 Dirk Bikkembergs Sport Couture (DBSC) fashion show.”
Whew! Darlings, we’re fanning ourselves like Miss Celie in church! Hot men in hot tailored classics-with-a-twist. We ask you: What is not to love?
That fitted blue leather jacket is TDF but you must be under 28 to get on this ride. Which is true of a lot of this collection. In true Dirk Bikkembergs fashion, it’s clothes for the young and very fit for the most part. Not that an older man can’t rock some of these tailored pieces, but the aesthetic is definitely youth-oriented. And amen to that. Nothing wrong with encouraging the annoying little zygotes to wear something a little tailored now and then.
