Project Runway Season 6: Meet Christopher Straub

Time for a cute gay one, wouldn’t you say?

Self-taught designer Christopher made his first garment when he was 14 – a pair of clown pants . Nowadays, he prefers simple designs and describes his style as “clean and fresh.” Christopher likes to incorporate volume into his designs, finds inspiration in fabrics that catch his eye and avoids anything too “matchy-matchy.” He is currently a visual merchandiser and freelance designer.

Why he’ll win?
Christopher says, “Personality + Talent = Success, and who could argue with that?”

Tim Gunn: “Christopher is very sensitive, very emotional. He wears his emotions on his sleeve.”

It’s so much fun reading between the lines on Tim’s assessment’s. After watching him for 5 seasons and occasionally getting to speak to him directly, we think we’re pretty good at it. When Tim says he “wears his emotions on his sleeve,” he’s really saying “Jesus Christ, what a frigging drama queen.”

But he’s so cute and sweet in his videos!

And we have to say, that’s some of the best pre-show work we’ve seen yet. This is a little mean, but quite often we look at these pre-show portfolios and they all look way too “fashion student” to us; overthought and underpolished, if you know what we mean. Not so here. This stuff could be hung right on a rack in a boutique, ready to go. Plus it’s all cute and very, very feminine. Sort of like Christopher.
