I haven’t seen any of S1 and I think I love Austin anyway! He just looks so old school B/W film actorish actually maybe even predating talkies. I’m afraid to watch any of S1 for fear that he’ll just be a raving lunatic. You’ve met him, tall me he’s not. Make my girl crush heart happy.

April, honey, we forgive you for not getting the joke. It’s a tad obscure, but any gay male over the age of 30 remembers being MESMERIZED by the Blackgama fur ads in mommy’s magazines. Every one of our soon-to-be idols and divas did these ads back in the day.

My favorite is the one Liza did, cocktail in one hand, cigarette in the other, swathed in animal fur. Politically incorrect on three levels at once.

So THAT’S why Austin was teased growing up! All the other elves wanted to make toys, but he wanted to be a dentist. Elves can be so cruel.

Nah – two pretties do not a couple make….Let’s pair them up with others and spread the glamour around. I see them more as “Best Friends” – lunching, shopping, trying on hats together.

I can picture Austin sprawled out nude with only the BLACKGLAMA. Kind of a peek-a-boo photo a la Faye Dunaway. Pure, unadulterated GLAMOUR.

anyone remember a Vanity Fair article about Siegfried and Roy? Siegfried was sprawled across his especially glamorous bed, nude, entwined in a sheet. Reminds me of Austin…..

I just looked at the website for Blackglama. The have images from all of the ads through the years. Those are some gorgeous women, of course, but what struck me most was that the women were of all ages and races. It wasn’t just skinny white girls.

To me, this is far more reminiscent of the young, neuotic, and nude Yves.

I remember looking at all those ads when I was a teenager. They were fabulous.

Austin is definitely one of my favorite designers and now I hear he has this fabulous job designing wedding gowns. That’s awesome. It only proves that you don’t have to be the winner to suceed. Congratulations, Austin!
